From Tenerife to Bury ABC: The La Vida Lucha Story

Every brand has a starting bell. Ours didn't ring in a boardroom or a studio. It rang in a boxing gym in Tenerife, a long way from Bury, where I found something that's stayed with me ever since: a love for boxing. La Vida Lucha means "the fight life", and that's exactly what this is. Not a slogan stuck on a hoodie, but the way I've lived since I first laced up.

Where it started: Tenerife

I was living in Tenerife when boxing got hold of me. I started training at Povendano boxing gym, and that was it. If you train, you'll know the feeling: the early sessions where your arms are gone after two rounds, the slow grind of getting better, and the moment you realise the gym has become the most important hour of your day.

Boxing gives you a lot more than fitness. It gives you discipline, respect and a group of people who push you because they want to see you improve. That's what I fell for, and that's what I wanted to carry with me.

Coming home to Bury

Later I moved back to Bury and joined Bury ABC. Coming home and walking into an amateur boxing club is something special. Clubs like Bury ABC are built on people giving their time, sharing what they know and keeping the doors open for anyone willing to put the work in.

It was there, in 2019, that I set up La Vida Lucha. I wanted to make clothing that felt like the gym: honest, hard-working and proud of where it comes from. Kit you could train in, then wear out without anyone mistaking it for anything other than what it is: boxing.

The first round

La Vida Lucha started selling, and the kit went out worldwide. Seeing people in different countries wearing something that started with a love for a sport and a club in Bury was a proud moment.

But I'll be straight with you: I didn't have the capital to push on. Building a brand takes money as well as graft, and without it things slowed down. Anyone who boxes knows you don't always win the round. What matters is what you do next.

The comeback

Now we're back, and this time I'm not in the corner on my own.

Rob is a friend I met at Bury ABC. He had a short pro career that was cut short through injury. We've trained together, and now we're building La Vida Lucha together. We're both bringing our knowledge of the game and our passion for it, and we've got one aim: to climb to the top.

This isn't about starting from scratch. It's about taking everything we learned first time round, the good and the hard lessons, and coming back sharper. It's a new chapter, done properly, by two people who live the fight life every day.

What's coming next

New kit lands next year. Samples are in production now, and we're taking our time to get them right. The range includes:

  • Hoodies
  • Tees
  • Corner Fleece Shorts

We won't tell you anything about the kit until we can stand behind it. When the details are confirmed, you'll hear them first.

Why "the Corner"?

In boxing, your corner is everything. It's the people who've got your back between rounds: the ones who tell you the truth, patch you up and send you back out. That's what we want our community to be.

The Corner is our list for the people who want to be part of this from the start. Join the Corner and you'll get:

  • First word on the drop, before anyone else
  • 15% off when the new kit lands

No spam, just the news that matters to the people who've been with us from the start.

The fight life

From a gym in Tenerife to Bury ABC, from selling worldwide to slowing down and coming back stronger, La Vida Lucha has always been about one thing: the fight life. It's the early mornings, the hard rounds, the people in your corner and the drive to keep climbing.

We're on the comeback, and we'd love you in our corner.
